Interests

Interaction design and usability, digital anthropology, ubiquitous and ambient computing, visual studies.

I want to create services and experiences that are exploratory and non-restricted. To work on projects that encourage growth, playful activity and emphasize sustainability- for the collaborators and the project. We need to emphasize the possibilities of creation and community, less stress on production and more on play.

Background

My background is in art and architecture with a focus on collaboration, community art projects and social practices. I studied digital video and painting for my B.F.A, architecture and design for my B.S. Currently I am learning how to use the left side of my brain. This is harder to do for a visual thinker.

I am a dorkbot groupie, an overly enthusiastic marketer for my friends and my dreams, a cyclist, and a crafting freak. In my free time I am on the net watching things grow, researching ubicomp and interaction design, riding my bike or watching scary movies.

I have worked at homeless shelters, bicycle cooperatives, bars and universities. Lived in New York, Florida, Holland and Portugal. I helped create the vibrant community around Platial.com, founded an artist residency program, and curated for two galleries. I have been a member of red76 art group for the last 8 years. My artwork has been exhibited in Portland, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Istanbul and Venice. I am one of thirteen children from four parents, and a Boriqua. My whole life I have strived to get involved with different communities, explore different ways of learning and learn how to live a more grounded, conscientious and socially responsible life.

Work History

Interaction Designer by day, visual and conceptual artist by night. I also work in creative consultation, jewelry and apparel design. I have been working as a visual artist for the last 10 years.

I am a graduate student at PNCA studying Interaction Design with a focus mobile and ambient computing. I want to get the world out of the paradigm of desktop computing and bring technology into the environment and the world around us in a sustainable and magical way.
